Alan Holman’s Observer’s and Air Gunner’s Flying Log Book from 14th October 1941 until 29th April 1947. Posted to No. 6 Air Observer and Navigation School trained as navigator, wireless operator and air gunner. Further postings to 54 Operational Training Unit and No. 2 Radio School, No 8 Air Gunnery School. Operational posting to 192 Squadron as a Special Operator. After completing first tour of operations, posted to 21 Operational Training Unit in September 1944. In December posted to Telecommunications Flying Unit.
Served at RAF Staverton, RAF Church Fenton, RAF Yatesbury, RAF Evanton, RAF Foulsham, RAF Moreton-in-Marsh, RAF Defford.
Aircraft flown were Anson, Blenheim, Oxford, Beaufighter, Boston, Dominie, Proctor, Halifax, Wellington, Lancaster, Mosquito, Lincoln, York.
With 192 Squadron he flew a total of 49 special duties operations (3 day, 46 night) plus one Cook’s Tour. His special duties operations took place along the French, Dutch, Belgium, Danish, German coasts, the Western Approaches, the Bay of Biscay and Brunswick.
His pilots were Pilot Officer Ellis, Flying Officer Leask, Pilot Officer Kennedy, Warrant Officer Salt, Flight Lieutenant Roach, Flying Office Sanders and Wing Commander Trousdale.
Log book includes a holiday flight in 1946 and a business flight in 1947.
