Description

Pilot's flying log book for Ernest 'Cappy' Olaf Lane covering the period 30 April 1940 to 27 April 1943 detailing his training and operations flown with 148 Squadron. Cappy flew 29 operations, 18 as second pilot to Sergeant Lewis, Sergeant Attwell, Squadron Leader Rainsford, Sergeant Fennell and Flight Lieutenant Deaves and 11 as pilot. He flew 19 night time and ten daytime operations, in Wellington and Bombay aircraft. The targets included Maleme, Benghāzī, Darnah, Rhodes, Gazala, Beirut, Jarabub, Antelat, Benina, El-Adem, Tmimi, El Gubbi, Msus, Aleppo, Kibrit, Candia, Corinth Canal, and Tobruk.
