923995 LAC BOLDY. D.A.
My darling Dad,
Just a line to let you know what is happening. Excuse the writing but the train brakes quite a bit.
Now for the news. We have been posted home. I expect we shall have a short refresher course before we have a crack at them. At the moment I am bound for Cape Town. So in future you can address letters straight to Bathurst Mews. So don’t worry if you don’t hear from me. I shall cable you just before I leave. Our stay in S. Africa has been grand & we have had a really square deal. I made some really good friends at East London was very sorry to leave [deleted] them [/deleted] them. My girlfriend & I are very upset. In fact dad I think I am in love with the girl. But knowing I was going away soon put everything in a different light. Anyway we had a lovely friendship. Besides there is a job to be done & we intend do it thoroughly. I shall write a long letter on the boat telling you all about my friends. I shall write from Cape Town if we stay there a couple of days. In case we don’t I am writing now.
Everybody was sorry to see us go. The S. African officers said it was a pleasure having us with

Them. The finest compliment they could have paid to us. Everybody was grand & we got on [indecipherable word] excellently with them. (Sorry about this writing).
It will be grand seeing Mum there [deleted] again. I shall take leave home some tea, sugar @ silk stockings.
The six of us had a terrific binge when we got in the train to drown our sorrows. It helped immensely.
I enjoyed the flying in this country & we have lots to look back in both as against work & pleasure. I shall return to S. Africa after the war.
Will write again as soon as possible Dad. Look after yourself. God bless you.
Lots of love
From your
everloving son
