P M Matthews Wireless Operator’s Flying Log Book covering the period 4 June 1943 to 23 September 1944. Detailing his flying training and operations flown as wireless operator. He was stationed at RAF Yatesbury (2 Radio School), RAF West Freugh (4 [O]AFU), RAF Bitteswell and Bruntingthorpe (29 OTU), RAF Wigsley (1654 HCU), RAF Syerston (5 LFS) and RAF Skellingthorpe (61 Squadron). Aircraft flown in were Dominie, Proctor, Anson, Wellington, Stirling and Lancaster. He flew 16 night operations and 8 day operations with 61 Squadron, total 24. Targets were Orleans, Poitiers, Aunay, Châtellerault, Pas-de-Calais, Saint-Leu-d'Esserent (3), Villeneuve-Saint-Georges, Caen, Revigny, Stuttgart, Cahagnes, Joigan Gardon, Mont-Candon, Bois de Cassan (2), Secqueville, Darmstadt, Koenisberg (2), Brest, Mönchengladbach and Dortmund-Ems Canal. His pilot on operations was Flight Lieutenant Stone.
