From:- Headquarters, No. 4 Group, R.A.F. York.
To:- Officer Commanding, Central Depository,
R.A.F. Colnbrook, Slough, Bucks.
Date:- 5th February 1942
Ref:- 720/385/P.1.
85233. P/O. A.F. Barralet.
[underlined] 58 Squadron, Linton-on-Ouse. [/underlined]
It is regretted that although very thorough enquiries have been made, no trace of this Officer’s golf clubs have been found.
2. The Secretaries of four local clubs have co-operated in trying to find the missing articles, but all report that they have nothing answering the description furnished by Mr. Barralet. In addition, another R.A.F. Station, which had reported having found undentified [sic] golf clubs, was asked to compare them with the description, but these clubs do not tally in any way.
3. As Pilot Officer Barralet is a prisoner of war, it may be possible for him to inform his father as to where he kept his clubs at the time he became a casualty. This may take time, but it would appear to be the only way likely to lead to any success.
