Address as before.
26/6/43.
Kay Darling,
Many thanks for your letter received yesterday.
Had a letter from Dad dated the 22nd & he writes that "mother is in Hospital, She had her operation yesterday, she seems very sick & down. Expressed a desire to see [deleted] you [/deleted] [inserted] me [/inserted], if I could possibly arrange it" so if possible I will get a 48 pass & dash up to see her. Dad is staying at Betty's place could you manage to come with me? I expect Betty could fix you up as well.
Things are very much the same, afraid I haven't much in the news line. Sorry to hear you only received one letter up to Thursday, I can assure you I have written practically every other day.
Did you tell Griffins that I was in the R.A.F. etc, it seems an awful long time to wait.
Regarding leave I note your remarks for the 14th so will act accordingly, will try for an

earlier date, expect it will okay.
I can't understand Pay accounts, yesterday I received the enormous sum of three pounds, I must go over & find them.
Managed to get a swim with Ian the other day, it was super, also we [indecipherable word] Boston last night for a feed etc, afraid I don't like Boston very much, there are far too many of our type kicking around, personally I much prefer Horncastle, it's more like Newark.
I am writing this in my office [indecipherable word] & have just got the tip I have a job of work to do, incidantly [sic] I have been duly appointed a Leader, so from the dizzy heights of same I have to administer a [indecipherable word] or so here & there.
God bless darling with all my love
Yours always
Jim.
