The collection concerns Ronald Holford Riding (b. 1921, 1525125 Royal Air Force) and contains his log book, correspondence, documents, photographs, and service material. He flew operations as a navigator with 69 Squadron before he was shot down in France. He evaded and worked with the resistance before crossing the Allied lines in August 1944.
The collection has been donated to the IBCC Digital Archive by Lyn Elizabeth Jolliffe and catalogued by Barry Hunter.

Please accept my deepest sympathy in this trying hour.
I am deeply grateful that you have written & told me. I do hope & expect that you will hear favourable news, though of course as you no doubt know & expect it will take a long while before you hear anything.
It came as rather a shock to me mainly because Ron and I were such good friends. I have his Photo in [deleted word] the few I brought out with me. One I took of hm at Greenwood threatening him with a snowball.
I'm keeping quite fit out here considering except for one or two minor risks. Fortunately for us we only have the weather to contend with & that is a lot to be
