Dear mum & all,
Just a few lines to let you know I'm still well and looking after the old number one.
The camp we're on now is a grand place and the mess is wizard.
I'm in a room with two more chaps, one from Bardney, and it's very good, the beds are soft & have nice white counterpanes; clean sheets & pillow slips every week too.
The floor is polished so well you can see your face in it, except under the carpets, (if Les were here it might be different).
We are awakened with a nice cup of tea every morning, and the batman does a good job on our buttons and shoes, being summoned by a bellpush conveniently situated so that one doesn't have to get out of bed to press it. There's a big wardrobe, two dressing tables & a bookstand for clothes etc, and a washbasin with plenty of hot water, so Les says they certainly do try & take the place of the poor little boy's mothers.

So far we havn't done much since we came here, except eat and wander around the camp finding where things are kept.
The C.O. here was my C.O. at Leachars and we had quite a good chat when I saw him this morning, he's a real good type.
There doesn't appear to be much work attached to this job which suits me for a while, and it seems leave isn't too hard to get. I can get two days at Christmas but I'm not allowed to travel more than 20 miles, so I might go and visit Vera's uncle at Loughborough which is just in the prescribed area.
On the whole life seems pretty worth while and apart from leaving some good friends at Bardney I'm quite satisfied with my lot.
I think that's about all the news this time so I'll close, hoping you're all keeping well and looking after yourselves. Is Arthur any better?
That's all for now, Good-night & God Bless.
Your Loving Son.
Ken.[kisses] David [kisses].
