Description
Marta Papotti (b. 1937) remembers the bombings of Turin and how she and her family dashed to the shelter in the basement. Reminisces over the sense of community and describes people reciting the rosary or just chatting. Describes how her father the owner of a confectionary firm went every night to the site of the company as to deal with incendiaries. Mentions 'Pippo' and blackout precautions after curfew. Gives a brief account of the dreadful journey to Cavagnolo where they spent the last years of the war as evacuees.
