TO ANSWER THIS MESSAGE –
(a) You may write up to 25 words on purely personal and family matters on the back of the enclosed Red Cross Message form. Place it in an envelope addressed to –
Comité International de la Croix-Rouge,
Palais du Conseil Général,
Geneva, Switzerland.
Mark your envelope clearly on the front “Red Cross Postal Message Scheme”, and post it in the ordinary way (3d. stamp or 5d. air mail).
[underlined] NO ADDRESS, OR CHANGE OF ADDRESS, MAY BE GIVEN WHEN REPLYING ON THE BACK OF THE ENCLOSED MESSAGE FORM. [/underlined]
If you have changed your address, take or post the enclosed message, with your reply written on the back, to your nearest Red Cross Message Bureau, which will despatch it and record your new address for you. You should take a stamped (3d. stamp or 5d. air mail) envelope with you to the Bureau addressed as above.

(b) If you wish to keep the enclosed Red Cross Message, you may go to a Red Cross Message Bureau, which is generally at a Citizens’ Advice Bureau, and send a fresh message. This will cost 1/-.
THE ADDRESS OF YOUR NEAREST BUREAU CAN BE OBTAINED FROM THE POST OFFICE
N.B. – WHEN REPLYING TO THIS MESSAGE –
(1) Do not mention or hint about service matters. Even such remarks as “Tom in Army”, “Jack gone East”, “Bill near where we spent holiday in 1938”, etc., will not be passed by the Censor.
(2) Do not mention the receipt of “Radio Messages”, “Letters”, or “Cards”. Some non-committal phrase such as “Received your message, or news” should be used.
(3) Do not mention results of enemy action.
(4) Do not mention names of towns.
(5) Do not suggest corresponding through an intermediary or any means other than through the Red Cross.
(6) Do not cross out anything that you write on the form.
