I have pleasure in forwarding the undermentioned citation from the London Gazette dated 25th January, 1946, promulgating the award of the Distinguished Flying Medal to your late son 1806333 Sergeant SIMPSON. H.E.W.

The KING has been graciously pleased to approve the following awards in recognition of gallantry and devotion to duty in the execution of air operations:-
Distinguished Flying Medal
Sergeant.
1806333 Henry E.W. SIMPSON R.A.F.V.R. 166 Sqdn, with effect from 7th June, 1944 (since deceased)
