Dear Mere and all:
Just a few lines as a souvenier [sic] of Winnipeg (ever heard of it). By a marvelous [sic] stroke of luck I managed to make my 48 hour pass for Winnipeg. I’ll tell you all about it eh??
Bob Blight, (my co-pilot) and myself were chosen to act as Navigaters [sic] on a special sort of Navigation test to Winnipeg we had to work everything out, (remember how I tried to teach you) and get here.
We left Camp at 12 o/clock on Friday and I was to navigate here, we flew at 10,000 feet and above the clouds, and I marked all the courses etc, out, and managed to fix our position relative to the ground, by spotting difference towns etc through breaks in the clouds, and when we should have been near our destination we came down through the clouds, and there was Winnipeg just to our left. The trip took two hours, but we lost an hour owing to the clocks being 1 hour different, so we arrived here at 3 o/clock, the two instructions (one Navigation sarg, [sic] and a Flying Sarg [sic]) and ourselves booked rooms at a Hotel, and, by a wangel [sic] we’re keeping the plane untill [sic] Monday morning, so we either go back tomorrow (Sun) evening or Monday morning, there a Squadron Leader wishes to go back (that’s how we’re keeping the plane, - Squadron Leader’s [sic] have a way with them.) So, we’re having a pretty good time here, I’m

writing this at the Airmens Club, (remember these people met us on Winnipeg Station and gave us a good time when we came over here first, - this club is run by the same folk.) It really is a marvellous club, everyone is so kind, we’ve had about 3 invites out to private houses (for Sunday teatime) already, if we don’t have to go back till Monday, we shall use one of them of course.
Well thats [sic] about all there is to tell at the moment, - ah! I sent a parcel off this morning from Eatons ( a store about 2 times the size of Handleys – about 8 or 9 stories high) – I sent some Max Factor stuff, I hope its suitable, and that you get it OK. also that theres [sic] not too much duty to pay. – I do hope it suits, as the whole issue cost over £2, and I’m not kidding, the girl said it should last for about 18 months to 2 years. – by golly if Ginger Rogers can hold anything on you when I get back – just watch out.
Well all for now.
Tons of love and kisses (from Winnipeg)
Your very bestest brother
