Westland Lysander.
The Lysander resulted from a 1934 requirement for an Army Co-operation type. Extensive high-lift devices gave the aircraft a STOL capability. The first prototype flew in June 1936 with the type entering service in June 1938. In all [deleted] 1652 [/deleted] 1652 Lysanders were built, being used principally for target towing, air-sea rescue & the delivery of special agents into enemy territory. The Mark V shown here has twin tail units, all other marks have a central fin only.
