FOREWORD
This small folder contains some early memories and full the service record of “Jack” Culkin. He joined the Royal Air force at the age of 15 and completed 40 years of dedicated service retiring at the age of 55.
It does not, however, reflect upon the only part of his life that was even more important to him – his wife Jean, daughter Susan and son John.
Jack married Jean Dodds on 21 August 1946 and she was the love and companion right up until his sudden death on 14th September 1999.
In retirement they lived in Washingborough near Lincoln, where Jean still lives. His hand written jottings were recently found in a drawer at their home and have been typed up along with his service records and some photographs. The folder will remain a record and a tribute to one of the “Many of that generation”.
