Dear David
This seems a very poor sort of Christmas to send you only a letter but I seem to have done nothing in the way of presents this year. Anyhow this brings my very best wishes to you for both Christmas & the New Year. How I wish you were spending it at home. I do not know your address & it is quite strange addressing to the Elms once again. You really have got a most extraordinarily attractive daughter – she is a real darling & always so pleased to see anyone. We saw those enlarged photos taken
[page break]
with her standing in that stone thing in the garden, they are all frightfully nice but the best is the one in which she is bending down and kissing Joyce. It is a most lovely picture. Yesterday & today we have had horrid fog & last evening buses from S'ton way ceased running. It is better here to-night but I hear it has spread to Bournemouth to-day. It make everything so damp & cold. I wish we could have got down to the Elms on Christmas Day but it is no good wishing as there is no bus.
Love & every good wish
Yours affectly.
Dororthy.
