Description An account of the resource G White’s Flying Log Book as a wireless operator and air gunner from 18 November 1942 until 7 May 1946. Training at No. 4 Radio School, No. 1 Air Gunnery School, 28 Operational Training Unit, 1652 Conversion Unit. Posted to 78 Squadron in July 1943 for operations. In May 1944 posted to 10 Operational Training Unit as a wireless operator instructor. January 1945 saw a posting to 1662 Heavy Conversion Unit followed by operational posting to 576 Squadron. Posted to 50 Squadron in September 1945. Served at RAF Madley, RAF Pembrey, RAF Castle Donington, RAF Marston Moor, RAF Breighton, RAF Abingdon, RAF Stanton Harcourt, RAF Blyton, RAF Fiskerton, RAF Sturgate, RAF Waddington. Aircraft flown were Dominie, Proctor, Blenheim, Wellington, Halifax, Whitley V, Oxford, Anson, Lancaster. He flew 27 night bombing operations with 78 Squadron where targets included Essen, Hamburg, Nuremberg, Leverkusen, Berlin, Mönchengladbach, Mannheim, Munich, Montluçon, Modane, Kassel, Frankfurt, Hannover, Düsseldorf, Stuttgart. His pilot for these operations was Flight Lieutenant Bowen. With 576 Squadron he flew 7 day and 3 night bombing operations to Bremen, Hildesheim, Hamburg, Nordhausen, Lützkendorf oil plant, the Admiral Scheer at Kiel, Plauen, Heligoland, Berchtesgaden. He also flew 2 Operation Manna (Rotterdam), 3 Operation Exodus (Brussels), 3 Operation Post Mortem (Flensburg) and 4 Operation Dodge (Pomigliano d'Arco). His pilot for all these operations was Flight Lieutenant Woodruff. With his final posting to 50 Squadron he flew 2 Operation Spasm to Berlin) with Wing Commander Flint as his pilot.
