The collection concerns Flight Lieutenant Jack Whymark DSO DFC (1920 -1945, 616289, 53481 Royal Air Force) and contains an oral history with his son, Robert Whymark.  He joined 17 Squadron in 1939 and took part in Operation Aerial in 1940.  He flew operations as an air gunner in Europe and North Africa with 101, 103, 106, 148 and 149 Squadrons and was killed 04 October 1945 during Operation Dodge.
