H A Close’s Flying Log Book covering the period from 26 February 1944 to 11 September 1944 detailing his operations and training flown as Flight Engineer. He was stationed at RAF Rufforth (1663 HCU), RAF Elvington (77 Squadron) and RAF Driffield (466 Royal Australian AF Squadron). Aircraft flown in was Halifax. He flew 23 night and 16 day operations (total 39) with 466 Squadron pilot Pilot Officer Mullen. Targets were Collinge Beaumont, Hasselt, Bourg Leopold, Trappes, Chateaudun, Juvisy, Laval, Amiens, Evercy, Duisburg, St Martin le Hortier, Siracourt, Oisemont Nieuville, Le Grand Rossignol, Mimoyecques, Wizernes, Villers Bocage, Domleger, Caen, Ferme-du-Forestal, Les Catelliers, Foret de Nieppe, May-sur-Orne, Coquereaux, Dijon, Etaples, Brunswick,,Eindhoven, Kiel, Sterkrade, Brest, Homberg, La Pourchinte, Soesterberg, and Le Havre.
