Top - A group of seven aircrew in a mix of battledress and service dress, standing in front of the starboard wing of a Lancaster. The officers are wearing peaked caps, the NCO's side caps. This is the F/Lt Dave Shannon crew, 106 Squadron. A handwritten annotation on the reverse of the photograph identifies members as (left to right): Sgt BE Holmes (RG); unidentified; Sgt AF Pemberton (WOP); illegible - possibly J Robson; P/O F Whalley (Nav); F/O DK McCullock ((MUG), F/Lt Dave Shannon (pilot). (left to right).

Bottom - Six aircrew members standing at the port side of the rear fuselage of a Lancaster. It is known that this photograph was taken at RAF Syerston on 18 January 1943 after an operation to Berlin, the Lancaster being W4842, ZN-H, of 106 Squadron. The airman are members of the F/Sgt L J Burpee crew, identified as (left to right):F/Sgt Gordon Brady (RG), Sgt Bill Long (MUG), Sgt Guy Pegler (F/E), F/Sgt Lewis Burpee (Pilot), F/Sgt Edward Leavesley (WOP) and Sgt George Goodings (B/A).
Leavesley is carrying two pigeon boxes.
