Reginald Johnstone’s Royal Air Force Navigator’s, Air Bomber’s and Air Gunner’s Flying Log Book

Reginald Johnstone’s Navigator’s, Air Bomber’s and Air Gunner’s Flying Log Book from 1st December 1942 until 22nd May 1944 when he was killed in action. During this time trained as an air gunner. Trained at No. 4 Radio School, No. 7 Air Gunner’s School, 14 Operational Training Unit, 1485 Bombing and Gunnery Flight, 1660 Heavy Conversion Unit, No. 5 Lancaster Finishing School. Posted to 207 Squadron in March 1944 for operations.

He was killed in action.

Served at RAF Madley, RAF Stormy Down, RAF Market Harborough, RAF Syerston, RAF Swinderby, RAF Spilsby.

Aircraft flown were Dominie, Proctor, Anson, Wellington, Stirling, Lancaster.

Reginald flew 13 night bombing operations with 207 Squadron. His targets were Frankfurt, Berlin, Essen, Nurnberg, Tours, Aachen, Juvisy, Annecy, Bourg Leopold, Amiens, Duisburg and Brunswick.

His pilots on operations were Wing Commander Grey, Pilot Officers MacSweeney, Grant and Burgess.

During OTU gunnery practice flew against Martinet and Tomahawk as enemy aircraft.

Includes the front side of the registered envelope in which the logbook was posted back to Mr H. J. F. Johnstone.
