Sergeants Mess

Dear Mum and Dad,
I got here OK on Tuesday, arriving soon after five o’clock. This station has only been going for three weeks and is not even nearly under proper organisation. The Sergeants Mess is quite good though, and that goes for food too. All this week we’ve done practically nothing. We’ve joined out other crew – Pilots, Navigators, W/Ops and Bomb Aimers, and most of us have crewed-up. I’ve palled up with a New Zealand pilot a London Navigator and an

observer and Bomb aimer. All we’re short of now is a W/op.
Flying doesn’t start for us until another week. It will be all night flying in Wellingtons, at six hours each trip. So when we eventually leave here we should have got used to each other. We are going to have a visit to London now and again so if at any time you see a Wellington circling around over NO41 EUSTON RD you’ll know who it is.
The weather has been rather wet so far, but clears up of an evening.

next week I may come home I don’t know yet.
In a half an hours time I got to get some [underlined] more [/underlined] flying hit. It gets more everywhere I go.
Its now time I got cracking out in the rain so cheerio for now.
