Transcripts of note taken from author's visit to Mr Dykins in Southport 24 May 2009. Relates to operation to Dortmund Ems canal on which he was Lancaster pilot who was shot down 3 March 1945). Mr Dykins and 3 other crew survived, His uncle (Paul Thompson) and 2 others were killed.
Gives some of Tom's background and brief service history. Tells of being shot down by Major Heinz-Wolfgang Schnaufer as his 117th claim. Relates briefly about the operation and being shot down. Mentions baling out, being captured and treatment by Germans as PoW, Mentions some of crew and a little about Paul and his DFC as well as 'Ginger Cook' and J Crawford.
