Royal Air Force band

A formal group of 21 bandsmen with instruments. Eight are crouching in the front row with four side drums, a bass drum and a brass instrument. One man is wearing a bass drummer's leopardskin apron. Standing at the rear are a further 13 bandsmen, many holding brass instruments. Second from the left a man holds the drum major's mace. The band is arranged in front of a brick building. Herbert Paice is in the rear row, far right. The reverse is formatted as a postcard, in French and English and has typed on it: "8. 12.F.T.S. Voluntary Band. July 1939" The number "14 519" is stamped (upside down) and written is: "Bert Paice. Back row. Extreme right".
