Observer and air gunner's flying log book for Jared Lewis from 14 November 1942 to 22 January 1946. Details his training, operational duties and period as an instructor. Jared served in North Africa and Europe at RAF Dalcross (No 2 Air Gunnery School), RAF Moreton in the Marsh (21 and 22 OTU), RAF Kairouan (142 Squadron), RAF Pembrey (No 1 Air Gunnery School), RAF Manby (No 1 Air Gunnery School), RAF Turnhouse (289 Squadron), RAF Cleave (639 Squadron) and RAF Pockington (102 Squadron). He flew 57 operations, 55 night time and two daylight as air gunner to Tunis, Bizerta, Decimomannu, El Aouina, Palermo, Marsala, Naples, Trapani, Alghero, Elmas, Borizzo Airfield, Castelvetrano, Pantelleria, Messina, Olbia, Naples, Cagliari, Catania, Naples, Paola, Lamezia, Vito [San Vito lo Capo?], Taranto, Cologne, Dusseldorf, Munster, Sterkrade, Soest, Osnabrück, Essen, Duisburg, Mönchengladbach, Hannover, Hanau, Saarbrucken, Dulmen, Magdeburg, Gelsenkirchen, Mainz and the Elbe River Estuary. Pilots were Flight Sergeant Jones, Flying Officer Smallwoods, Flight Lieutenant Birley, Captain Heiden, Flying Officer Thomas, Flying Officer Compton. Flight Sergeant Warner, Warrant Officer Smith, Flying Officer Hurlburt, Flying Officer Pearson, Flight Lieutenant McEvoy, Pilot Officer Thomas, Withinton and Revill. Jared also served with air gunner Bill Ollerton, navigator John Grist and wireless operator/air gunner Eric Davies. Aircraft flown were Wellington and Halifax.
