Description

A memorial panel describing the crash of R1397 on its return journey from bombing Emden.

Head and shoulders photographs of the crew and a photograph of a Wellington (B KA painted on the fuselage) are shown together with the badge of 103 Squadron.

The crew were:
Pilot Officer Mervyn Sydney Lund (pilot);
Sergeant Arthur Edward Owen (pilot);
Sergeant John James Cox (Air Observer);
Sergeant Frank Gordon Walker (Gunner);
Sergeant Alfred John Le Poidevin (Wireless Operator/Air Gunner);
Sergeant Roy Penry Williams (Wireless Operator/Air Gunner).

Relatives of the crew attended the unveiling of the panel on 25 July 2011.
