Description
Three images of a Vickers Wellington and five crew members, on an airfield. The first shows five aircrew, including a pilot, in uniform and standing casually under the nose of the aircraft. Part of the front turret can be seen. Also visible are protective covers on the left engine nacelle and main wheel. The right engine nacelle has an access panel open. Webber is second from the right.
The crew were:
Flight Sergeant Frank Lawrence Boyd RAAF (412101) (Wireless Air Gunner)
Flight Sergeant Keith Robert Webber RAAF (411562) (Navigator)
Sergeant Ronald Taylor (648472) (RAF) (Rear Gunner)
Flight Sergeant Edward Vivian Laing RAAF (406693) (Pilot)
Flight Sergeant Douglas George Williams RAAF (411566) (Air Bomber).
The second image shows the same airmen in similar pose at the left side of the aircraft tail. Part of the turret and rudder are visible. One person is holding a cigarette. Other aircraft on the airfield are visible in the background. On the reverse is written: " 'D' for Donald at dispersal. She took us to Bremen and back.". The five men are then identified with Webber being second from the left.
The third image shows the same crew standing in front of the left hand tailplane. Visible to the left of the group is aircraft identification letter, "D". Behind the airmen part of the aircraft serial number is visible. Webber is on the far right. On the reverse is written: "'D' for Donald and crew. Lichfield OTU. Sept 1942."
