Lancaster and Wellington with crews
Title
Lancaster and Wellington with crews
Description
Three images of a Lancaster and one of a Wellington.
The upper left image shows the right side of a Lancaster nose with the bomb aimer's blister and open bomb bay doors visible. Seven aircrew in flying clothing, with parachute harnesses and life preservers, stand below the aircraft. A decorative crest is painted on the fuselage. A set of servicing steps can be seen at the other side of the aircraft.
The upper right image shows the left side of the nose of the same aircraft. The same crew are now posed on the servicing steps. The bomb aimer's blister, front turret and cockpit are visible. Eleven bomb silhouettes and the outline of a Lancaster are painted on the fuselage.
The lower right image shows a wider view of the right side of the Lancaster front fuselage. Some of the crew are on the servicing steps and others are standing around.
The lower right image is that of a Wellington and is an uncropped version of another photograph in the collection. It shows the front, left quarter of the aircraft and five aircrew standing in front of it. Webber is second from the right. A protective cover is draped over the left engine nacelle and the main wheel. The right engine nacelle has an access panel open.
