Pilots flying log book for William Douglas Tweddle, covering the period from 26 January 1942 to 15 September 1977. Detailing his flying training, operations flown and post war flying duties. He was stationed at 21 Elementary Flying Training School RAF Booker, Initial Training Wing SRAF Hillside, 27 Elementary Flying Training School RAF Induna, 21 Service Flying Training School RSAF Kumalo, 16 Elementary Flying Training School RAF Derby, 18 (Pilots) Advanced Flying Unit RAF Church Lawford, 16 Operational Training Unit RAF Upper Heyford and RAF Barford, 1654 heavy Conversion Unit RAF Wigsley, 5 Lancaster Finishing School RAF Syerston, 9 Squadron RAF Bardney, 50 Squadron RAF Sturgate and RAF Waddington and 607 (Couty of Durham) Royal Auxiliary Air Force RAF Ouston. He was awarded an instant DFC flowing the Tirpitz raid. In 1977 was invited to fly in a Shackleton to recreate the Tirpitz raid. Aircraft flown in were Tiger Moth, Oxford, Wellington, Stirling, Lancaster, Meteor and Shackleton. He flew a total of 35 operation with 9 Squadron, 26 daylight and 9 night operations. He also flew 2 Operation Exodus and 5 Operation Dodge. Targets were Creil, Villeneuve-Saint-Georges, Revigny, Courtrai, Cahagnes, Joigny-le-Roche, Mont Candon, Bois-de-Cassan, Trossy, Etaples, Lorient, La Pallice, Bordeaux, Givors, Brest, Gilze-Rijen, Ijmuiden, Munster, Flushing, Westkapelle, Tromso, Urft Dam, Munich, Gdynia, Paderborn, Arnsberg, Vlotho, Bremen, Bad Oeynhausen, Juvincourt, Brussels and Pomigliano.
