Description

A report providing details of an operation from RAF Skellingthorpe on 23 September 1944 to target the Dortmund Ems Canal. The numbers of aircraft participating and lost are provided. Details of the loss of Lancaster LM718 are provided. Also includes a description of the attack taken from The Flying Dutchman propaganda leaflet (XH 38 No 52 Wednesday 4 October 1944).

The crew of LM718 were:
Flight Sergeant G Twyneham (991577) - killed;
Sergeant H W Jennings (411560) - killed;
Squadron Leader H W Horsley (68786) - evaded capture;
Pilot Officer C A Cawthorne (54753) - evaded capture;
Sergeant R T Hoskisson (961858) - evaded capture;
Flying Officer J C Webber (154082) - prisoner of war;
Flying Officer J P Wheeler (154229) - prisoner of war.
