John Glashan’s Royal Canadian Air Force Flying Log Book
Description
John Glashan’s Flying Log Book from 19th October 1942 until 25th August 1944. He flew as a navigator. He trained with No. 3 Air Observers School in Canada. Attended No. 6 Elementary Flying Training School, 26 and 29 Operational Training Units and 1661 Heavy Conversion Unit before being posted to 9 Squadron for operations in December 1943.
During June 1944 further training at the Pathfinder Force Navigation Training Unit (PFF NTU) before returning to 9 Squadron.
In August 1944 posted to 82 Operational Training Unit.
Served at RCAF Pearce, RAF Sywell, RAF Little Horwood, RAF Wing, RAF Bitteswell, RAF Bardney, RAF Warboys, RAF Ossington.
Aircraft flown were Anson, DH 82 Tiger Moth, Wellington, Lancaster.
With 9 Squadron John flew 39 bombing operations (9 day, 30 night) to the following targets: Berlin, Brunswick, Magdeburg, Stuttgart, Schweinfurt, Frankfurt, Essen, Nurnberg, Toulouse, Tours, Aachen, Juvisy, La Chappelle, Munich, Sable, Lille, Bourg Leopold, Beauvoir, Culmont-Chalindrey, Villeneuve, Caen, Courtrai, St. Cyr, Givors, Joigny Laroche, Bois de Cassan, Criel, Etaples, Lorient. His pilots included Flying Officer Sheppard and Pilot Officer Forrest.
