542 Squadron

542 Squadron was formed in October 1942 at RAF Benson with Spitfires as a photo reconnaissance unit. The squadron supported Bomber Command by photographing targets before and after operations, including attacks on V-weapons sites. The squadron was disbanded in August 1945.
