Short S.20 Seaplane G-ADHJ ‘Mercury’

Description

Short S.20 seaplane ( G-ADHJ "Mercury") being lifted by crane to fit on top of a Short S.21 flying boat (G-ADHK, "Maia") floating dockside with a an ocean liner in the background. Guide ropes manned by ground crew are assisting ‘Mercury’ to align with ‘Maia’ and prevent rotation in the event of wind. The presence of the cruise liner suggests location is the Imperial Airways base at Southampton.
