Title

Dunkirk

Description

Two vertical aerial photographs and a typewritten report (SA 223) interpreting the photographs taken on 15 February 1943 during an attack on Dunkirk by 22 B24s (17 from 44th group and 5 from 93rd group) escorted by fighters. The report describes bomb damage to the northern part of the port, quays, locks and E/R boat pens. Bullet points explaining annotation of prints is provided. The report appears incomplete as not all annotations are defined. One image has the caption '(SAO-93-329 1-4) (15-2-43) (123682-64-20000)' and is annotated with 'SA223 Dunkirk 15.2.43 Annotated print No I Neg No 19346' and arrows marked A-H indicating bomb damage. The second image has the caption '(SAO-93-329/1-9) (15-2-43) (12368[indecipherable] - 1.4 - [indecipherable]0,000)' and is annotated 'SA223 Dunkirk 15.2.43 Annotated print No II Neg No 19345' and arrows marked J-R indicating bomb damage.
