Alan gives details of service: 201 Squadron; 38 & 148 Squadron Wellington air gunner; 211 Squadron Blenheim Wireless Operator/Air Gunner; 35 Squadron Lancaster flight engineer; and 120 Squadron Lancaster and Shackleton pilot. He tells of first tour on flying boats, then training as air gunner. First tour on 38 Squadron he carried out 16 Operations. He provides stories of events on some of his operations and mentions the three pilots he flew with. Half way through the tour, he got sent to 148 Squadron Wellington and flew operations against targets in Italy and North Africa. He tells of some incidents on operations to Naples and Tripoli. He was injured during an air raid on Malta and, after recuperation, went on to 211 Squadron with operations on Blenheims.
