From the Fuhrer's Speech
Die Festung Europa hat kein Dach

Description

From the Führer’s speech

In Hitler’s speech to the Reichstag on 19th July 1940, he appeals to England to avert its destruction and end the war. He asserts the Axis’s power and indefinite supplies through occupied Europe. He believes that the arms industry in England wants the war, claims Churchill has attacked non-military targets and will move to Canada to avoid suffering the fate of the English people.

Die Festung Europa hat kein Dach [The European stronghold has no roof]

The article shows how much the RAF air offensive has increased by the end of May 1943, as well as the numbers of American aircraft. This is contrasted with the Axis. Whereas England knew its capabilities would improve and the Americans join them, Germany has no new allies and its factories’ production has significantly reduced. It is fighting on three fronts and the question is posed of how much longer it can continue.

So fing es an [How it began]

Several quotations from early on claim how Germany will destroy their enemy, contrasted with Churchill’s words on 8th June 1943. Here he claims the reverse, pointing the growing effectiveness of allied air offensives.
