Dear Mr. Wood,
I am writing you regarding your son’s personal effects. I supervised the collection of these as early possible following his failure to return. Every effort has been made to collect the property known to belong to your son, including a search of the Sergeants’ Mess, and the locker rooms.
All service clothing and equipment was extracted from the kit, and the remainder, consisting of the personal effects, is now being forwarded to:-
The President,
Standing Committee of Adjustment,
R.A.F. Central Depository,
Colnbrook, Slough, Bucks.
You will hear from the President of the Committee in the near future, and I should be obliged if, in the first instance, you will address any enquiries regarding these effects to him.
Two Post Office Savings Bank Books were found amongst your son’s papers, and these have been forwarded to The Director of Accounts, Air Ministry, which is in accordance with instructions. Cash to the amount of 10/– d. was also found, and this has been paid to the Accountant Officer for crediting to your son’s non-effective account.
Please accept my sincere personal sympathy in this trying time of waiting. I hope that before long you will receive good news.
Yours sincerely,
A.E Rayaus F/O.
