My Dear Doris.
Very many thanks for your letter & my wonderful writing case, I am pleased with it for it is exactly what I wanted. I’ll finish up my old stationery before I start my new, & I’ll take good care of my case, they are just right for one in the R:A.F.
I am very pleased to hear you have had such an enjoyable week-end with Art, & that he seems to enjoy the R.A.F. I have written him but have not yet had a reply. By your description it sounds as if Art’s camp is very nicely situated.

Yes Doris, I believe Art will find the service life better than he expected, & once he is settled & properly installed, then he’ll be able to make the most of it. If, when he is stationed in a more or less permanent camp, he could live out with you in the vicinity then it won’t be quite such a rotten war, & you both should then be quite happy.
Mum, told me of the delay of your present to her, & I was pleased to hear it arrived after such a long delay.
Doris even though I’m not yet 21, I do know my own mind, & I hope to be married just as soon as I can afford to.

And Doris I hope that one day soon you will be able to see our belongings, for Georgie loves to show them to everyone. – & believe me we have done quite well & everything we have is 1st class & I’m proud of every bit we possess.
Well, Doris, we are leaving Scotland very shortly now & they say we are going back to Acklington – but that all remains to be seen. Anyhow, roll on my leave it will soon be here.
Doris as soon as I get a chance to see the outside of a camp, I’ll try to send some cards & buy a few presents, so just expect yours when it arrives, & I’ll do my best to see you get it this year. ha! ha! By the

As further news is scarce, lass I will say cheerio & heres hoping you get your xmas leave & we see you at home. Remember me to Art & keep smiling. Cheerio.
