TRADE MEN WIN BIG ORDERS . . . AND GOOD CONTACTS
By Robert Moody

ORDERS worth thousands of pounds have been won by a Sheffield Chamber of Commerce trade mission which has just returned from a tour of New Zealand and Australia.

The mission comprised 12 members whose interests range from steel and tools to general engineering.

Mr. S. L. Speight, deputy chairman of the Neepsend Steel and Tool Corporation, the mission’s leader, said:

“It has been a highly successful trip. Besides getting the orders, the members also established good contacts and put over England’s products – particularly those made in Sheffield.”

In both Australia and New Zealand there was a feeling that England was not particularly bothered about selling goods to them, said Mr. Speight.

“Much of this has to do with all the publicity about the Common Market, and I felt that by going out representing the Sheffield Chamber of Commerce, we could correct this position more effectively.”
