Combat report for 21 April 1943, Halifax DT747

The combat report for 21st April 1943 describes how at 23:08 the anti-aircraft alarm was sounded as Halifax DT747 enemy aircraft approached from the north-east and flew over the Esbjerg air base. It was intercepted with Luftwaffe guns and caught in the searchlights. The aircraft met with gun fire and turned west. It was fired at again by multiple batteries and hit in the left engine. It tried to gain height but was met with another salvo. It plunged straight to the ground on the Esbjerg-Hjerting road with the loss of all the crew.
