A Prisoner of War. – On March 11, the day after his 21st birthday, news was received by Mr. and Mrs. W. J. Taplin, of 12 Whitesmead Road, Stevenage, that their eldest son, John Albert Taplin who was reported missing five weeks ago, was a prisoner of war in Germany. The news was received from Rome through the International Red Cross. At the same time Mr. and Mrs. Taplin learned that their son who joined the R.A.F. more than three years ago, had been promoted to flight sergeant just before his last flight.
