Sgt. J. A. Taplin, R.A.F. Missing.
Mr. and Mrs. W. J. Taplin, of 12 Whitesmead Road, Stevenage, were informed by the Air Ministry on Thursday last week, that their eldest son, Sgt. W.O.P./A.G. John Taplin, R.A.F., was missing from an operational flight over Germany. The telegram also said that further news was expected. Mr. and Mrs. Taplin have also received letters from their son’s squadron leader, and from the E.S.A., Stevenage, in the office of which firm “Johnny” was employed. He was a member of the firm’s sports club, and has many friends. He was educated at Letchmore Road School, and joined the R.A.F. when he was 18. This was his thirtieth operational flight. His many friends in Stevenage join Mr. and Mrs. Taplin in hoping that he is safe as a prisoner of war.
