STEVENAGE AIRMEN MISSING
SQD.-LEADER W. CLARKE AND SERGT. J. A. TAPLIN
Mr. and Mrs. J. Taplin, of 12 Whitesmead Road, Stevenage, have been notified that their son, Sergt. John Albert Taplin, aged 20, is missing from air operations. Sergt. Taplin was a wireless operator and air gunner in a Royal Canadian Air Force Squadron serving with the R.A.F., and had been in the Air Force for two years. Before joining up, he was a member of the office staff of the Educational Supply Association, Ltd., of Stevenage.
Squadron-Leader William Clarke, a director of the Vincent H.R.D. Co., Stevenage, has been reported missing from air operations. Squadron-Leader Clarke is well known in Stevenage, having taken an active interest in local affairs for many years before he volunteered for service with the R.A.F.
