Dear John
I’m feeling very bad that we couldn’t see each other. I had a lot of work to do, and I was very busy. In the morning we had medical inspection, because we are moving, & the day went very quickly. I was feeling very bad about that, because these are our last moments which we are spending together. It is nearly time for our separation. Our moving wasn’t cancelled, it was ordered on Tuesday morning. Then tomorrow is the last day of my being in Mühlberg. I am not sentimental from nature, but it will be hard for me that we won’t meet again. Our dear but short meetings by the wires, I’m keeping forever in my memory, as your drawings show. Truly they are making me very happy. Very often I was [inserted] only [/inserted] running out in the yard [deleted] (only to see your pleasant figure) [/deleted] to see through the squares in the wires your pleasant figure, and sincere friendly smile.
Life is flowing very fast, a lot of changes are coming with it. To-day we are parting, who can tell, maybe by the mercy of faith we may be allowed to meet again.

[circled] 2 [/circled] A.
I think however that you will always keep me as a dear memory.
We are from two nations which the fate of war has made as one. Poland being so far away, and [deleted] (unknown to you) [/deleted] the interests that make it a healthy country unknown to you, I would like very much that our friendship should influence a bit of a truly & sincere understanding between our two nations. Ending and at the same time saying good-bye to you, I’m sending you my sincere friendship, and my sincere regards to my comrade in arms John.
Iga.
