20th April 1943.

Dear Folks, – still smiling, I hope I expect you have heard from me by now. I have not recieved [sic] any from you yet, although the rest of the crew have heard from their folks. Dont forget to send one or two pipes, pipe smoking is more economical. I am quite well, and I at present are as brown as a berry. The result of a little sun bathing [sic]. Dont forget the khaki shorts, if unobtainable send a pair of swimming trunks or football shorts. Dont forget a spot of “choc” will you. You will know what to send Im sure. Im billeted near a “commando” a nephew of Ernie Crouch. who hails from Letchworth. We have had a number of talks, concerning the neighbouring district. I hope you are all well, and – dont worry If you dont hear from me for a while, because the mail will be very erratic, which can be understood. Its OK to address F/Sgt now. It is verified by a Squadron [indecipherable word]. Keep Smiling Love Always
