Mr John Taplin,
After reading your moving letter in our Post, I just had to write and say how sorry I am to tell you Ron died about nine months of coming home, not through war wounds, but jabs in his arms , given to him in the P.O.W camp. His resting place is in ST. Marys Churchyard Penwortham nr Preston Lancs. both
[page break]
his parents are there to [sic].
If by any chance you would like to come and visit the grave, I would be pleased to take you, but let me know when you would be coming, my Son who lives next door no. 30. Is on the phone no. 746796 you will have to find the code (No) and dail [sic] that first. After reading your letter I felt how sad you didn’t know about this sooner, but would make feel better now you know it was well worth writing to you.
Yours faithfully
Mrs E Fitchie
