My darlings Peg & Vernon
I have not heard from either of you for about or nearly three months, though mails have arrived, I do sincerely hope that this finds our three loved ones well & happy, I am thankful to say Dad, Eileen, Babies Bernard & I are all well but very sad, I wrote you by Airgraph telling you our darling boy Lawrence was reported missing over Germany on 18/12, Eileen got a letter from [inserted] the [/inserted] Air Ministry on Sat: 30/1 to say they heard from the Red Cross through Germany our loved one was killed, but they (the A.M.) was waiting for further confirmation of this & are still posting Law as missing, as several cases like this have proved false statements by German sources, we are praying & hoping this is correct in our case, as I feel sure like our boy is safe & well somewhere; poor Eileen is terribly upset, needless to say Dad & I are broken hearted over ones great loss but I trust God will hear our prayers & bring our boy back to us & all his loved ones.
Bernard to is very cut up, & has just phoned from London on his way here, will arrive about 11 P.M. let me know by Airgraph if you have received [underlined] yours [inserted] & Diane’s [/inserted] birthday gifts [/underlined] Also Diane’s Xmas gift as I am getting anxious about it having arrived safe.
I am enclosing the last snap taken of our darling on his last leave the morning

he left, Baby was asleep so she was not in the picture.
Jill & Baby are getting quite big & bouncy God bless them & bring their Daddy back to Stacie, Eileen & us all.
Baby will be 11 months old tomorrow & stands up by chairs etc: & tries to say all the tears they are both [indecipherable word], & we are longing to see you both & our little Pet Diana God bless her.
Well my darlings I am too full to write more so hope you will excuse this short & sad letter.
Bye bye with a fond God bless our three loved loves, look after yourselves, & each other & both look after our little darling Diana & give her a kiss for each of us.
