Dear Lewis
We recieved [sic] your most welcome letter yesterday morning please to hear you got the parcel alright, why not try putting the day or date on your letter’s Lewis when you write then we know when you have sent them. Have you sent any more Laundry up. if you send it up post it off Saturday if you can then I shall get it before washday.
So you have had a weekend in London and by accounts they seem to have seen you

coming they must think service men have money to burn, fancy 11/6 for the picture still if you enjoyed it.
Our Cyril was in London last Saturday manning the Battersea Gun’s for Saturday night came home Sunday evening about 8.30, and seemed put out as there had been no action. he said the lads payed [sic] 1/6 a pint for beer and left it.
What kind of a [sic] Easter have you had been busy? Dad as [sic] had to work all the holiday was on at 6 o clock monday and today but gets home about 2.30 expecting him in any minute now Sidney and I went to Anston for the day yesterday The Crofts went Sunday morning as Uncle Charlie’s

sisters girl was getting married on monday (you know his nora she came to stay an odd time here) it was at Dinnington Church was a posh affair, Uncle Charlie gave her away I was invited but Grandma had visitor’s from Doncaster so I did not go had a pre war tea with plenty and plenty of drinks after, Whisky, Sherry, port, and cases of beer.
Sidney and I couldnt get on at the pond to come home so we walk [sic] to Dinnington to catch the Todwick bus it was in when we got there and the Crofts family was on it too so we manage [sic] a seat, then when we got to Todwick Bar Auntie Clara and Uncle Ted got on sign the family had been out for the day.

Dad asnt [sic] got his greenhouse yet it was promise [sic] sure for last Friday but did not come it is madning [sic] as he could have done a lot to it this weekend with being home early in the afternoon and not being able to garden as the ground is soaked and not fit to dig we have [deleted] go [/deleted] had two lovely day’s with Sunshine I expect you will have had the same.
Renee is at Hull we are expecting her back today she went Saturday dinner we did not think she would be able to go as they put a new restriction on from last Thursday but any way she must have got through.
Have you heard anything of Fred I sent him a card for his

21st but we have not seen any thing of him I saw Stanley Rause here on Sunday Norman Hasleden is South of Naples’ he as met his couson [sic] Jack Parkin there. he seem [sic] to be having a good time by [deleted] accoun [/deleted] accounts easier than in England. Jack Glossop as just been over again, our Charlie as got another byke [sic] a Federation Sports second hand but in grand condition he as just been in to say Barnards have got some wing nuts so will you let us know what kind you wanted.
