Dear Mam & Dad,

I received your letter dated Tuesday on Wednesday morning, it did not take long to get here did it. I was glad to hear every one is O.K. and I hope my Dad has got his green house by now.

I had a pretty quiet Easter; [deleted] if [/deleted] in fact if we had not had a [sic] egg for breakfast last Sunday I do not thing [sic] we would have noticed any difference at all.

Our day off last week was Saturday so we hitch hiked into Oxford and saw the American

Army show “Skirts”. All the people in it were men of the 8th Air Force, it was one of the best shows I have seen and it was free to service people.

This week I have started flying and today I soloed in these kites. They are quite easy to fly. The only trouble now is that I have to walk a mile and a quarter to the flight and doing that twice a day is wearing out my shoes. I was going to buy a second hand bike but I think it would be a waste as I have a bike at home. Do you think I aught to have it down here or

should I leave it at home?

If you decide to send it let me have it as soon as you can get that wing nut. The wing nut I need is just like the one already on the bike. Anyway our Cyril knows what sort is needed and I should get two if I were you. I shall try and get them down here if I can and if I get them first I will let you have them.

If you send the bike don’t forget to insure it against loss or damage and do not leave the pump on it or someone is sure to pinch it.

I guess thats all for now let me know as soon as you send it.

Remember me to all

Your loving son

Lewis.

P.S. I’ll let you have my laundry as soon as I can. I am not in a hurry for it back.
