Dear Man[sic] and Dad
I did not write last week as we were taking examinations so I will send this Air Mail so you may get it earlier
Well you ll be glad to know I have got through all the ground school exams so thats another step nearer the “Wings”. We are now the senior course here so we are the next course to get our Wings.
No one in our class (the English class) have failed so I think thats a record but we still have the flying to get through.
Tell my dad we don’t get
[page break]
our wings until we are really good pilots.
Since my last letter I have had two from you and one from Harry Rodgers down in the “states”; he told me one of the English boy [sic] who was in our flight at Scarborough was killed night flying – I finished my night flying a week ago.
About ten days ago two hundred WA.A.F.s came to Brandon as cook, clerks etc to relieve some of the men but no notable change has taken place on the menue [sic] and no airmen appear to have lost their job
Yesterday I got a new uniform – Canadian blue – much darker than the R.A.F. blue but I think it is better made and has a lining in.

I think thats about all for now: I’m still waiting for a letter from Hats or Fred.
Remember me to all at Nos. 6 52 & 69. Tell our S[deleted]y[/deleted][inserted]i[/inserted]dney I’ll try and get him a “lumberjacks” coat – I have got one for flying in.
Your loving son
Lewis.
P.S. I have not heard from H & Ps for mounths [sic] now.
