Dear Mam & Dad,

I got your letter from home yesterday & you say [deleted] I ha [/deleted] you have not yet received any letters from me; well I have been writting [sic] every week & I have had about four from you & two from Fred that’s all – I havn’t [sic] heard from Hats or John Smith yet. The other English chaps here say their parents havn’t [sic] got any of their letters [deleted] so [/deleted] yet either

This Christmas Heap & I went to stay with a Mrs Duncan in Winnipeg. Mr Duncan is president of the Imperial Bank so you can guess how posh it was. They live in a big house in the “West End” of Winnipeg & have two maids & two cars. Every night we went out to dinner or a cocktail party it was great – we met the Dutch Consul in Winnipeg a Major general & dozens of other officers.

Mr Duncan is a champion dancing skater so we were allowed to go in the “Winter Club” whenever we wished. On boxing day we saw a [sic] ice hockey match and on Sunday before we left we went out with

Mr Duncan to his farm forty miles out of Winnipeg, for lunch and had venison pie & venison steaks.

When we left Mr & Mrs Duncan drove us down to the station & any more leave we get we have to go & stay with them so we are looking forward to another fine day.

The exams at the end of this course start in a weeks time so I’m busy swotting but tell Fred & Hats I’m writting [sic] to them.

I’m still flying every day & tomorrow I have a flying test; I think I’ll be O.K. That’s all for now I hope you had as good a Christmas as I did. Did you get my Christmas card?
